Very Unique, maybe too unique for me

They say that this wine takes at least a decade to truly be understood. Eleven years in and I don't get it. At first you think "oxidized, dead", but then you get a sense of great depth and complexity. It puzzles me to say it but this may one day truly be great.

Fascinating aged hermitage
Score: 91 points
Drink by: 3 to 7 years
What a fascinating experience this aged hermitage blanc is. The wine opens with an oxydized feel
similar to a past-its-prime Cali. Chard. But over time it blows away and also seems to integrate and
eventually that note is almost gone, leaving an idea of madeirized more than oxydized. The palate
then becomes nutty and toasty (but not oaky toasty, something different) and with a whole range of
complexity. Reading old reviews of this wine on CT I see that they sometimes last 30 years, I
wonder what this will become.
