Beaucastel, Chateau Chateauneuf du Pape Proprietary Blend 1999

This wine lacked structure and had a full body.

Scents of truffles, black berries, and cassis.

The lack of structure is a turn off. But the full body makes up for that.

Still tight and closed off. Wait for it...

Slightly leafy on the nose. This wine is closed off at the present. Herbal with light cherry, berry, and oak notes. Hints of blood orange (it took me days to figure that unique flavor out) that lead to a very tightly knit finish. Wine had been decanted for an hour and still would not open. I would leave this wine for at least another three years before giving it a shot. It shows strong potetial though.

Wonderful wine with soft tannins, little acid and amazing fruit. On the palate you discover a plethora of different fruits. Berries, stone fruit and hints of floral notes. Wine is delicate in structure but surprises you with how complex it is in your mouth. Trying to find more, love this wine.
