Bright red cherry and currant on the nose. The palate reveals a 'fleshy' wine with some great intense fruit, fantastic smooth tannins, and a acid level on the high side, (but does not distract). The middle flshes out nicely and this finishes on a deeper Cab note. Interesting. I can see why some reviewers of this wine mention the heavy Merlot, in actuality its 37% Merlot, with the remaider being Cabernet (63%). I have no problem with this quality, as long as some of the negative Merlot traits stay away. This wine pulls it off nicely. The acid levels hint to me that this may be fantastic with food. Reminicient of some of Mondavi mid-range wines. This can go for 3-5 years nicely. A good deal, and some QPR points at $22.50, maybe not so at $37.00

This wine is nuts smoothered in smoke.  The strawberry fruit cuts through your palate also but it gets trampled by the smoke and nutty flavor that dominates this wine.  The wine itself is a very soft texture on the palate which I'm not particularly fond of, but the wine itself stands up strong.
