Drank at Courtrights in the Chicago suburbs. This was recorked in 2005, which was quite surprizing (Also 15% alcohol.) Beautiful golden amber color. The nose was etheral. Orange blossom honey, burnt sugar and caramel also present. Full bodied, etheral and balanced. Lots of caramel, got hints of amaretto, too. The finish was very spicy. We drank this with foie gras, creme brulee and a browned butter almond cake. The cake was unbelievable. It paired very well. Not so well with the creme. The burnt sugar was too much. The sommelier enjoyed this as well. Though this was my first truely aged Sauternes, I didn't enjoy it as much as the 2003 Lafaurie. 94 pts.

I have to say I liked this wine. it's one of those wines that bite back with a strong alcohol taste and it is thick. most would say yuck!! But I like it.

Solid Suduiraut
Score: 92 points
Drink by: 8 to 12 years
Popped and poured from 375. A bit a funk and VA blew off after 10 minutes. Nose of marmalade with a hint of nuttiness, perhaps due to the recorking in 2005. An explosive palate of orange zest, pineapple, tropical fruits, and creme brulee, with balanced acidity. The long finish was not at all cloying.

This keeps getting better in the glass, and I will revisit it repeatedly, as I only poured a small taste before recorking and refridgerating the bottle.

For now, 87 for the nose, 94 for the palate.

Day 5:
Now we`re talking! This not only held up for 5 days in the fridge, it became much more expressive and balanced. A rich golden color; nose of botrytis, orange marmalade, and nuts; palate has flattened a bit, losing the notes of tropical fruits, however the lovely finish just goes on and on... Quite rich and sexy, but not so complex. The wine is now integrated to a solid 92, and is very pleasing to drink.
