I tried this wine at a local tasting, then bought a few bottles so as to try it in a more controlled state. What I found was that while it has the nose and immediate taste of some lighter red fruits, it also possesses a tanginess combined with a short finish. I think I understand better why this varietal is used more often as a blend with more powerful reds rather than found on its own. While I find it interesting, it's not a wine that one is going to run for in the hopes of being awestruck with fantastical flavors and aromas. I give it 3 stars because of its uniqueness but at the same time find it a bit forgettable. And at $30/bottle, you probably don't need to load up on it.
