To me this was the 'breakout' Insignia. New world Cab (Cab blend) style. Great balance. Beautiful dark fruit. Acid and tannins meshed to create an amazing long finish. Back the truck up.

Full bodied wine long on the finish.
Smells of fruit, coffee, cake, and cedar.
Dark purple.

Extremely velvety textured, full bodied, softer tannis than I prefer, very fruity.

Ripe Fruit

Sampled 2/23/04. It`s not the 1995 Insignia, but it is holding up well in it`s own right. The overly ripe blackberry and black cherry fruit is lasting and lasting with this wine. The tannins have softened noticeably since it`s first release. While still flashing hints of spice and minerals, the wine also seems to have lost just a twinge of its complexity over the past couple years and it`s hard to tell where it will be a few years from now, although it could get better as the jammy fruits might give way to some of the earthiness that still underlies this wine.
