This Bordeaux has a very seductive and balanced flavor. It can set the mood. With it's classic aromas of black berries, truffles, licorice and smoke and it's dark plum and purple colors can help any date go well.

Not a great Margaux....
Score: 92 points
Drink by: 13 to 20 years
The sexy, dark plum/purple-colored 1999 Margaux is already revealing complex aromatics. Surprisingly charming and round, it grows in the mouth revealing tremendous length as well as purity. An archetypical Chateau Margaux of richness, finesse, blance, and symmetry, it can be drunk young, but promises to age nicely for two decades. Indeed the `99 Margaux is all these things, but so`s every wine from this marvelous chateau. The bottom line is that compared to other Margaux efforts, this one falls short.
