Spain has the third most land under vine in the world, just behind Italy and France. The country has a large diversity in wines, ranging from light, dry whites to heavy, alcoholic reds to fortified and dessert wines. Spain is probably most know for Tempranillo and Grenache, each of which make quality red wines and many at very reasonable prices. Airén is the popular white varietal accounting for almost a third of Spain's vineyards.
