9998 - Tommasi Merlot Garda Vigneto Le Prunee
Tommasi wine...red or white, you choose!

I can't say enough about Tommasi wines, they are excellent!  We were introduced to them in 2005 in Japan no less at a wine dinner and fell in love with them.  I have been to many wine tastings and continue to try different wines, but I keep coming back to Tommasi. I can't even find it here in my home town so I order it and drive over an hour one way to pick it up!  Try them you won't be sorry!!

I always look for the bottle to say Napa Valley and be priced between $10-15 dollars. I found this wine to be a great tasting and smooth wine.

Delightful mouthfeel, delicate smooth texture.  I really can't belive a wine this good is available off the shelf at your local chain supermarket (in Montana, anyway.)  Buy it by the case if you can.

This is an amazing wine for an amazingly low price.  Cannot believe how smooth this Merlot is.  Also, cannot believe it is a wine for under $4.

I would not usually buy a wine for this low price but was in a liquor store and a man was buying up cases of this wine which prompted me to ask what the deal was.  When I found out how inexpensive this wine is I didn't think it would be any good, until I tried it.  What a surprise!  Amazingly smooth Merlot and have bought three cases and enjoyed one (with friends, of course).  I am sure that once this wine catches on, the price will go up.

This wine is rich, layered and full of mouth watering flavours. I am not usually a merlot drinker but will take this one anytime!! If you want coconut, cocoa and richness you should try this one.

2005 - Long Shadows Merlot Pedestal
Another Insane WA wine
Jun 13, 2008

2005 Pedastal..another Long Shadow wine with Michel Rolland as the wine consultant. This is 100% Merlot ( I think) and has WA Pomerol written all over it. It is new world to be sure. Nose had leather, dark fruit/black berry, dirt and even a hint of rubber. Finish was seamless with wonderful chocloate. I've  had the past two vintages of this wine and this is the best. The '04 had a dirty penny finish. The '05 does not. From start to the finish it was nearly seamless and nearly flawless. This is what insane WA wines are all about.  Kudos to Michel Rollland and Longshadow. This along with the Sequel and the Pirouette, they have hit a home run.

Interesting wine

This wine  has a nice classic Merlot aroma, soft and polite, this wine is sincere in what it brings, and for those who are patient and dig deep there is much here to enjoy. As the wine grows into itself, the nose offers some nice complexity, adding whiffs of cream. Delicious!

2003 - Kendall Jackson Merlot Vintner's Reserve Lake
Good Merlot

This was another solid vintage of this Merlot.  This wine is structured book perfect. It enters the palate fruity, and from there, it goes sour sherry on the mid palate, and finishes long with complexity and firm tannins, tobacco, black pepper and spices, and a little note of oak.

Good Merlot

This displays an appealing ruby red color with moderate thickness. On the nose it is a nice marriage of fruit and oak, very pleasant and inviting, with hints of strawberries, raspberries, and dark cassis.

Big and Juicy

This wonderful merlot had nice big juicy strawberries and cherries on the mouth and they seemed to last for days! This was easy to drink and went really well with my pork chops. It also had nice velvety texture.

Very Good

The only problem I have with this wine, is that I liked it's little sister the regular merlot more and it's about $15 less than this bottle. Overall, it has big juicy strawberry and raspberry fruit with a nice mint chocolate kick on the finish.  This wine also has a little bit of chew at the end.  Still an excellent buy!

This merlot knocked my socks off.  Velvety, fruit forward, and full of sweet cedar and milk chocolate.  I could drink this wine all day everyday! The mouth feel is a medium to fuller body but it's just so smooth on the palate and such an amazing value!

2002 - Fife Merlot
Good Table Merlot

This would be solid for an easy to drink table wine - if the price was slightly lower. It's a little hot but nice dark plum and prune like nose. Very smooth with a great full bodied mouthfeel. Finish is only medium length but smooth. I found it had an extra layer on the finish after it was opened a few hours.

2006 - Mollydooker The Scooter
Better

This was much better and more enjoyable than the 2005. I tried it without the "Mollydooker Shake" and it was very thick (syrupy) and luscious. Tastes of dark chocolate and mint rolled off of my palette. Second, after the "Mollydooker shake" it was a little more smooth and drinkable. It's still got a huge thickness to it, but there is a tameness about it now. Plus, it has these cool bubbles that form after you shake it in the bottle!

Ok

Just ok - pass compared to others. This was a very big wine that seemed thick, but it was smooth and enjoyable. I was a little underwhelmed after all of the other Mollydooker wines. Good raspberry but too much alcohol.
