| 2006 - Redbank Sauvignon Blanc Long Paddock |

Pretty delightful. Bright yellow / green, with strong notes of lemon and citrus peel on the nose. Incredibly refreshing, the bright citrus continues on the palate with Mexican lime and some really nice acid. Had me almost fooled for an unoaked Australian Chardonnay, but this is up my alley.

| 2006 - Lail Vineyards Georgia Sauvignon Blanc |
| forget New Zealand, forget Sancerre: this beats Carbonnieux |
| Apr 19, 2009 |
|
|
| Sauvignon Blanc has the most amazing spectrum, ranging from tangy Sancerre and NZ, to fruity Italian, to classic and massive. Up to now, classic and massic meant Graves. Now Lail Georgia (and its little sister, Blueprint, with a lighter touch) demonstrate that Sauvignon Blanc California can be a massive white. Chateau Montelena chardonnay beat French Burgundy in the 1970s; Georgia does it for sauvignon blanc 30 years later. |

| 2006 - Gaudry, Denis Domaine Pouilly Fume |
| Mar 19, 2009 |

|
THIS is Pouilly Fume! Super pale, almost transparent in color. Lovely nose of stone fruits, lemon, and gooseberry (oh the gooseberry) Tons of citrus on the palate with brilliant acidity and a streak of minerality that won't call quits. Lean, focused, clean, and crisp just the way an easy drinking white wine should be. This is refreshing stuff with no semblance of oak or anything else to weigh it down. Very mineral driven and angular on the finish.

| 2007 - Rudd Estate Sauvignon Blanc |
| Unique CA Sauvignon Blanc |

This wine fooled me as when I tasted it blind I would have never guessed this to be Sauvignon Blanc. On the nose I get a lot of Banana, Pear, Green Apple, and Cinnamon. There is also some nice rocky minerality, and a touch of new oak. This was obviously fermented aged in new oak barrels for at some point in its life. This is a big, rich SB but still has some decent acidity. Good, but not great. If you are looking for a Rombauer alternative this would be right up your alley!

| 2007 - Cliff Lede Sauvignon Blanc |
| Classy Napa Sauvignon Blanc |

A classic Sauvignon Blanc from a consistent producer in Napa. This wine has a brilliant pale straw color. The nose has a pleasant grassy, gooseberry, lemon oil notes. On the palate bright citrus fruits including grapefruit and tangerine. This wine finishs very clean with plenty of acidity and a crisp finish. Reminds me very much of a top notch NZ SB. 91-92 points

| 2006 - Barber Cellars Lazarie Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc |
| Truly Tasty! |

Kind of blows all your preconceived notions about Sauvignon Blanc out of the water. I love that it doesn't evaporate as soon as you swallow, and it's surprisingly good with food. Fruity, aromatic and a really balanced full note from start to finish. Not what you expect from this California fruit, but definitely worth it for trying something new.

| 2006 - Forefathers Sauvignon Blanc |
| Crisp Lemony White for August Nights! |
| Aug 04, 2008 |

|
| This Marlbourough white is zingy and bright with citrus, gooseberry and peachy flavors. I can't find much of a nose on it, but it explodes on the tongue and has a lucious finish. It has brisk acidity and begs for seafood, maybe a baked white fish fillet with a buttery crumb topping, or even take-out fish and chips! It is a bargain now at certain retailers, and makes my poor woman's list of really nice wines. |

| 2005 - Kenwood Sauvignon Blanc |
| Crisp |
| Jun 12, 2008 |

|
| This was a very dry and crisp version of Sav Blanc. It tasted like a grassy meadow in the morning mist with a mixture of fruit: peach, grapefruit, and kiwi. An odd soda aspect coming through as well - that's just weird. But overall not bad. |

| Real Wine! |

|
| This has a nice clean finish, though not too long, but again we are more used to reds. This stuff tastes real. Not too fruity, a very nice muskiness, no fakeness, not sweet and very balanced from what we can tell. Perfect alcohol balance as I wasn't even aware of the alcohol. |

| 2004 - Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc |
| Zesty! |
| Jun 12, 2008 |
|
|
| This has a very spritzy/zesty mouthfeel, focused on the tip of the tongue: alive and enthusiastic. Nice plush mouthfeel while still remaining crisp. I'm not too used to this much acidity, without the tannins as a balance, so it seems a little too acidic. Still a good value. |

| This vintage was just flat out tasty! it has an odd but very nice underarm smell; apple juice; baked suntan; kiwi, grapefruit, pineapple, a little bit of lime, and also lime leaves, and celery. This was full of flavor and aroma! |

| Another Solid Sav Blanc producer. Grassy; cat-pee; a little bit of gasoline, like two drops in the whole bottle, but still there; pool spray or perhaps ocean spray; some cream on the top; Interesting wine indeed! |

| 2007 - Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc |
| Solid but too sweet |
| Jun 12, 2008 |

|
| This one is good but not as well balanced as the 06. Still a great example of New Zealand Sauv Blanc. Grass, grapefruit, cat pee, melon....yummy. Touch of sweetness I the finish that i don't like. Great value. Equals other big name wines from same region, but with better price. |

| 2006 - Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc |
| Great |
| Jun 12, 2008 |
|
|
| This was another great vintage. Very well balanced. Not quite as much grapefruit and tartness as other vintages I've had. It has a bit more creaminess, but not too much like a Chardonnay want-to-be, which I really liked. This was very refreshing on a hot summer day. Found myself drinking it a bit too fast. Great price, I will buy more. |

| Simple |

|
| This was a very simple and laid back vintage. This is just a great, crisp, light summer wine. This is also another excellent value. Hard to find a wine that's better or more enjoyabe at this price point. Lemon and apple and grass. |

| Less Acidic |

| This vintage produced a very nice wine. The acidity is not overpowering and there is some really nice fruit here. A little lime here and there. Great for summer. Apple and grapefruit! |

| 2003 - Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc |
| Interesting Blanc! |
| Jun 12, 2008 |
|
|
| This has an extremely interesting finish that for some reason I enjoy. There is a bit of lemon zest zing to make the mouth sing a little bit. The finish almost has a rotten fruit quality which I don't find at all offensive. The fruit is apple, pear, and peach. |

| This was a very fruit forward vintage. Huge amount of pear and grass on the initial taste finishing with a funky blend of apricot, pear, and pineapple. I loved this for the balance and fruit. great summer wine. |

| 2001 - Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc |
| Too acidic |
| Jun 12, 2008 |

|
| This wine was good but it was too acidic.BUT...some nice melon and flowers on the nose as well as a touch o'pee. As mentioned, my palate was overwhelmed by acidity, but, there was some lemon and I got a nice charcoal briquette on the finish. |
