| 2006 - Cono Sur Chardonnay, 20 Barrels |
| Refreshing & Livey Chardonnay! |

|
| Bright yellow with a shiny green hue. Very fresh. Lots of stone fruits,
nectarine & peach in particular, with some crisp apple. Lively
acidity supports the the gentle flavors of oak with some nuttiness on
the long finish. Very fun to drink, this tastes great now with or
without food, but would be fun to enjoy at the start of summer for the
next half-decade or so. Highly recommended. |

| This is an amazing red wine I first came across at Target, of all places. A delicious wine to either pair with a meal or as a stand alone glass. Great fruit flavors in this bottle. I would be willing to bet that you will not be disappointed when you try this! |

| 2004 - Vina Carmen Cabernet Sauvignon |
| Best Chilean Cab |
| Oct 07, 2008 |
|
|
| This is one of the best Cabs I've had and surely ther best Chilean Cab I've ever tasted. Full bodied with loads of black fruit. Strong and Jammy with a good amounts of vanilla and chocolate. Its a flavor parade on the tongue. This wine will show well through steak, roast beef, lamb chops, and even spicy Indian food. |

Is there a better red wine from Chile? What a treat! Robust flavors
of java, currant and chocolate sustain for a long finish. This is a
brilliantly made wine. Ready to drink immediately, but should be
extraordinary in years to come.

| 2007 - Root: 1 Cabernet Sauvignon |
| Young, Affordable and Ungrafted Cab |
| Aug 27, 2008 |
|
|
| I spotted this wine at a local Costco in San Diego stacked in beautiful wooden boxes.
The presentation was certainly worthy of a $100 Bordeaux wine, however, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the price at $9.99 !! The bottle had a lot of information about the name, the summary of which is that the vines are from ungrafted original European root stock (pre phylloxera). Chile is blessed by the mighty Pacific to the West and the majestic Andes to the East, forming a protective cocoon on its vines and the wine from this bottle is the reward!
The wine has a medium ruby color with aromas exhibiting a rich and intriguing mix of dark fruit, leather, game and spice. On the palate the wine shows a balance and elegance commendable for such a young vintage. The smooth tannins serve a nice backdrop to the dark fruit with earthy notes and a hint of chocolate. Nice medium to long finish. A pleasurable and unique wine.

|
| Well, I'm more New World than I care to admit; however this is a very solid wine for the money. It is rustic - some cherry and cedar with strong herbs...and some nice tart fruit. All in all, I appreciate the integration of old and new world flavors. |

| Steal for the Money |
| Jun 12, 2008 |

|
| This wine had a nice medium-level tannins. The wine didn't linger as much as I'd hoped at the finish, but that may have been related to the strength of the food we paired it with. Overall, this is an outright steal for the money. Good strawberry and cherry palate. |

|
| This wine was a little bit too dry for me but it delivers a nice mix of earth and cherry. On the palate the wine is dry and full, with more of the earth and cherry notes, along with a stronger black pepper taste. It rewards taking your time with it, enjoying its subtleties. |

| 2003 - Vascos, Los Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve |
| Barnyard Cabernet |
| Jun 12, 2008 |
|
|
| This wine needed several hours to open up quite nicely to a well-balanced medium- to full-bodied mouthfeel, with OK tannins and a nice dry finish. The palate exhibits that same sense of barnyard and orange as the nose warned of, with some green pepper, black pepper, and a hint of orange sweetness. This wine is a little bit zesty, actually. |

| 2004 - Vascos, Los Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve |
| Bout the same |
| Jun 12, 2008 |
|
|
| This wine is a more expensive bottle that tastes the same as the lower end wine. Some nice black pepper immediately apparent, and I'm very happy that it doesn't smell too fruity. Nice nose, big and different, old-world style. Some nice funkiness that I can't quite describe. Some nice spiciness going on. |

| This vintage has a very nice nose, smelling of cherry and pepper. Taste was dry but not over powering. I like the tannins and peppery taste. Great mid palette, but finish goes away fairly fast, but lingers enough to be enjoyed. |

| 2003 - Vascos, Los Cabernet Sauvignon |
| Good and dark |
| Jun 12, 2008 |
|
|
| This has a lot of beautifully sweet oak is evident and the mouthfeel is thick with several layers of tastes, many flavors that are very consistent on the palate including: black licorice, deep dark chocolate, cherry and raisins and raspberries and some strawberry. A berry tart emerges from the dark. |

| 2004 - Vascos, Los Cabernet Sauvignon |
| Good Value! |
| Jun 12, 2008 |

|
| This Cabernet has immediate notes of leather and dark, dark cherry. A very intense and concentrated nose right from the start. A deep raisin aroma pervades the leather and reminds me of an amorone - only covered in oak and not that sweet. |

| 2004 - Montes Malbec |
| Decent Table Wine |
| Jun 11, 2008 |
|
|
| Good quaffer. This wasn't anything exceptional, but again it's a decent table wine that offers enough complexity to enjoy with a simple meal. Light cherry and tabacco with strong oak coming through on the palate. A little too much alcohol and dirt but it's good for the price. |

| 2005 - Montes Malbec |
| Cheap and Easy |
| Jun 11, 2008 |

|
| This was wine was light on the wallet and palate. Light smoked cherry and dirt are the main things I'm picking up. Some oak chip flavors are in there as well, but for the money I don't think anyone will be too disappointed. Food helps! |
