Great steak wine.  Especially with chimichurri sauce.  Would havebeen better if the oak was not dominant, but still a fun wine to have with friends and family on a nice Spring Day.

Pair this with a steak and thank the winery for producing a wine that is as good as your steak and costs the same.  The nice dark fruit and plum flavors go over very well on the tongue.  Thick wine, but again with a steak its great.

Good not Great

This wine is a little too acidic for my tastes, and makes your tongue feel like it was cut with a knife made of dirt.  The fruit is there, but its buried under the cheap immitation terroir flavors that seem to have been manipulated.  Still would work well with steak.

Tasted better on day 2 than day one - and day three was still excellent.  This wine needs to breath 2+ hrs before even thinking about sampling- if you can wait 12+ hrs it will really pay off.  Cocoa dust, vanilla, bing cherries and soft oak all come together for this wine.

Good body, powerful wine, and that's exactly what I want in a Malbec.  The tannins were a little tight, but they should be open by now.  Cocoa and cherries cover your mouth and make you want more. Serve with steak.

Medium bodied, tasted like a nice aged wine. It was somewhat closed in the beginning, but opened up an hour later. Didn't impress me without food, but with the beef bourgogne, it was a classic match.

Very dark purple color. Floral nose, with tar, lead pencil, baking spice and ripe plum. Very nicely balanced. Fleshy, nice fruit and mouthfeel. Great wine. I'm not popping one for two years.

Decent Stuff

This is another wine that Norton does very well for the price.  This is an excellent entry level Malbec from Argentina.  The fruit is a little tight and gives in tothe earth flavors of dirt a little too much, but overall its a good table wine.

Weakest of the 3 Vintages I've had

This wine seemed slightly weaker than the 2003 and 2004 vintages.  There wasn't a whole lot of additional support to the weaker cherries and bark flavors.  This is still a good wine for the money.

Stronger than the 2003

This wine was slightly better than the 2003 in my humble opinion.  It had a slightly better balance and the fruit seemed to pop out a little bit more with this wine. Also the cocoa was stronger as well.

This is a great everyday wine that could be served with various red meat dinners.  It doesn't have any depth to speak of but the smole, and cassis flavors are enough to pour for friends.

At $20 a bottle - this Argentinian Malbec delivers a very well rounded wine with cocoa lightly sprinkled over cherries and tobacco mixed with slight dirt.  This wine is best consumed while young.

A malbec worth your attention

Good strong bouquet when opened; smelled from across the room. Powerful wine, fruit prominent. Had a lot of reaction on tongue and made it sting. Usually I associate this with strong alcohol content but this was not the case. Just think this was a very active wine. Developed well over a few days in decanter but always retained that sting. Still, a good wine to pair with certain meal that require a dense strong counterbalance.

Decent table malbec

Nice label. One of the prettiest colored wines I've seen. Reminded me of a garnet gem stone. Fruit at first seemed strong but then that tapered off. Not a dry wine. No alcohol burn either. Acidic. An average wine. Higher acidity would lead to a good paring with certain foods.

Should be in your glass now!

Very fruity wine, deep purple (what I call 'dirty' purple) medium bodied. Bouquet was so alluring I found myself sticking my beak in the glass to get a whiff over and over again. Strong malbec flavor. Finish 20 seconds or so. Slightly dry tannins. A very decent wine, a total overacheiver in my book. For $10 this should be in your glass.

Delivers high quality for the money, and certainly is worth every penny you spend.  Dark fruit, vanilla oak, plum, spice and chewy tannins are the dominate factors of this wine.  Pair it with a meal or enjoy on the deck.  It isn't too heavy especially for a malbec, but it isn't light either.  Good value.

Great malbec, great price, great value

Norton Reserva Malbec, 2004. A great example of the price/quality ratio coming out of Argentina these days. This a rich purple wine, just glows in the glass. The nose is all creamy fruit, not super complex in the nose but a nice hint at what's to come. In the mouth, first it's all about texture-creamy, silky, fine grained tannins coming floating their flavors onto your tongue. Creamy fig, plummy burnt earth, currants, blackberries and caramel mocha. Silkly caramel finish. Lots of fig and herbs. It paired wonderfully with torn rustic herbed bread, heaped with chunks of venison sausage, thin slices of heirloom tomatoes, and large shavings of ancient parmesan all run under a very hot broiler. Heaven. Dark creamy fruit. That's malbec Norton knows it backwards.

Deep purple color, expressive nose of red and blue berries. Well integrated fruit, little tannin, little acidity. A bit on the simplistic side but very enjoyable. Good value.

The rose for people who don't like roses!

I really like this wine.  It is inexpensive, good value for your buck.  This Malbec Rose has more "oomph" than most roses.  It has a great color, light clear red, NOT pink.  It is well balanced, with round berry notes, and a clean finish. Great with BBQ pork or spicy Thai.

Great wine, maybe priced slightly higher than it should be, but it has wonderful dark red fruit that is surrounded by cocoa, dirt, and tobacco flavors that bounce around your palate.  This is a great wine to pop with a flank steak!
