Big and Juicy

This wonderful merlot had nice big juicy strawberries and cherries on the mouth and they seemed to last for days! This was easy to drink and went really well with my pork chops. It also had nice velvety texture.

The only problem I have with this wine, is that I liked it's little sister the regular merlot more and it's about $15 less than this bottle. Overall, it has big juicy strawberry and raspberry fruit with a nice mint chocolate kick on the finish.  This wine also has a little bit of chew at the end.  Still an excellent buy!

This merlot knocked my socks off.  Velvety, fruit forward, and full of sweet cedar and milk chocolate.  I could drink this wine all day everyday! The mouth feel is a medium to fuller body but it's just so smooth on the palate and such an amazing value!

Good Table Merlot

This would be solid for an easy to drink table wine - if the price was slightly lower. It's a little hot but nice dark plum and prune like nose. Very smooth with a great full bodied mouthfeel. Finish is only medium length but smooth. I found it had an extra layer on the finish after it was opened a few hours.

This was much better and more enjoyable than the 2005. I tried it without the "Mollydooker Shake" and it was very thick (syrupy) and luscious. Tastes of dark chocolate and mint rolled off of my palette. Second, after the "Mollydooker shake" it was a little more smooth and drinkable. It's still got a huge thickness to it, but there is a tameness about it now. Plus, it has these cool bubbles that form after you shake it in the bottle!

Just ok - pass compared to others. This was a very big wine that seemed thick, but it was smooth and enjoyable. I was a little underwhelmed after all of the other Mollydooker wines. Good raspberry but too much alcohol.

Pretty Merlot

This is a very pretty merlot from Sonoma in a very off vintage. It's showing great cassis and dark fruit character, with a hint of spice. On the downhill slide as far as youthful exuberance is concerned, it will probably slowly fade over the next 2 years.

This vintage was a big miss. It was very disappointing after the tasting the 2004 in the same tasting. It started off with a nice floral licorice on the nose only to taste like hot battery acid. After about an hour it might as well be Charles Shaw. I thought with a little breathing room this was going to be something nice and earthy. Sadly disappointed.

Nice organic wine. When I first opened the bottle and poured a glass, the wine struck me as almost floral on top of the fruit. About an hour later it opened up to a lot of strawberry; a bit on the jammy side, here. It even reminded me of IHOP's strawberry syrup. All in all, it's a nice effort for organic wine and with this price I had to score it a little higher than I would have if it were more expensive. GOOD!

Good again

This has flavor that lingers in to the taste of the wine, but adds on other flavors like mint, cassis, plum and strawberry. This is silly good for the price, well, as long as you like new world wine. It can be sweet, and this would be best with a hearty meal, but again for $20, this is awesome wine.

Good color for a merlot - dark ruby red. Great nose of sweet red cherries and raspberries and more of the same flavors. After it was open about an hour it did come across a little sweet but for $20 a screaming bargain.

This was very similar to the 2003 vintage of this wine, making me think that the finish on this wine is just due to their wine making process not the weather.  Again, lighter fruit with some vanilla and nut flavors.  The finish is very sour and off putting once again.

This was an interesting wine.  The anise and currant flavors were subtle, and gave off a very floral aroma, also some coffee notes as well.  However, there is an odd finish that I can't quite put my finger on - its a little bit sour.

Another solid vintage for this merlot from Whitehall Lane.  This vintage was a little bit more refined and well rounded than the 2003.  However, the fruit is more subtle and the vegetable flavors are looming quietly in the background to attack once this wine ages.

I didn't know what to expect from this vintage after hearing a lot of bad things about the weather, but this turned out very yummy. The big juicy fruit pours onto the palate and keeps the alcohol in check.  The structure is pretty solid, but I would say to drink this wine now - I don't know how well it will age.

This was an ok merlot, but for the money I would say it's a pass for me.  The fruit is a little bit weaker as earthy tones control the wine with a little bit of bell pepper making an appearance. Seek other vintages.

This vintage is the anit-2000 vintage of this same wine.  The fruit is nice and comes through very fresh on the palate.  The light nuttiness and vanilla oak flavors are a great compliment to the cherry and strawberry flavors.

I like merlot when it's done well, this vintage wasn't.  The weather played a part for sure, but this wine had a lot of other defects.  Too much oak and a very green feel to it.  The fruit is lost and the oak is just too much. Seek out other vintages.

This vintage just didn't deliver what it  needed to to justify its price.  The fruit is soft and has barely any length.  The light nutiness on the finish is the biggest plus, but the oak is a little too present.

Nice fruit but a little bit on the lighter side.  The oak overpowers the fruit too much, but there are some nice milk chocolate flavors.  Overall its a little too pricey to recommend.
