90% Semillion Grapefruity, grassy nose initially, very surprizing. It turned to the normal, tropical fruits and saffron. Very tropical in the mouth. Passionfruit, melon and a bit of botrytis. Sauternes is my favorite type of wine, this was the best Sauternes I've had to date. Outstanding wine.

Bright golden color. Nose of burnt sugar, dried pineapple, dried apricot and a little botrytis. Medium-full bodied, with over ripened pineapple. Very nicely balanced, with saffron on the long finish. Nice value here

A Taste of Honey

drinking this wine last night at the end of a fabulous meal was the inevitable hit of the night.  to steal the lyrics from a beatles song: a taste of honey, a taste much sweeter than wine.  well, this wine was a honey DEW.  golden in colour and sweet nectar on the nose with gardenias, star jasmine and honeysuckle on the nose it evolved into a pure honey expression on the palate and was unctious on the finish.  i wish i had more!

10 starzz outta 5 on this one!

For around $35/half bottle, here's a little gem that will finally bring that phrase, "nectar of the gods", into clear focus.  The 2001 version was Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year.  This 2003 doesn't come up too far behind in my opinion.  Here's a wine that lets you know something special is about to hit the tongue, and once it does, prepare to be swept up.  This honeysuckle of a wine is the quintessential dessert wine, but not overpowering.  It is just right.  Sweet, but not gooey sugary.  Refined, not syrup.  You will understand why France, and Sauternes in particular, has it all over the world in this area of sweet wines.  The perfect way to end a perfect day.  Well......

popped the cork on this beauty (RP95) last night after dinner.  it was at about 60 degrees (fresh from the wine cellar) and not overly chilled.  the aromatics exploded out of the glass...peach, honeysuckle, a hint of brown molasses.  the wine is golden in colour (it's still very young at only 4 vintage years old).  the aromatics did not disappoint on the palate.  this is an unctious wine-very luxurious and almost decadent in the mouth.  the honey and molasses were there, without question, along with a myriad of other succulent froot flavours.  the wine coated my mouth for what felt like forever.  it's a lot richer and thicker than you might expect.

5 stars, no question

Heaven in a bottle, part duex

My first Climens and I look forward to more int he future, especially a 2001.

A pale gold color, almost 'post-it note' yellow. Much more viscous than the Dolce, though not syrupy.

Nose: boytritis, green apples, pears, honey (only a hint)

Palate: Sweet and tasty. A bit of a sugary grittiness lined my palate. Almost a fruit cocktail-like myriad of flavors. Nice finish and no lingering acidity like with the '94 Dolce.

The good, the bad, and the ugly....

I opened this bottle last week for my birthday and was excited to give it a go. Well, the excitement quickly vanished upnon peeling back the foil and finding significant signs of leakage. The cork was a mess...

The wine was slightly tainted, but only slightly.

Color: Rich carmel hues as a 40 year old Sauternes should be

Nose: Sweet, not overwhelming with anything other than a bit of pear and slight smoke

Palate: Only slightly sweet, viscous and smooth, short and disappointing finish. Nothing really stood out flavor-wise. A little acidic or alcohol 'tickle' on the tongue ont he finish.

Perhaps the quality of the bottle had been too compromised or maybe at 40, it was beyond its prime. I have one other bottle, which I may open sooner, rather than later. I'll update this review, shoudl the outcome be better.

This is a blend that I would drink again. This wine well well balanced and enjoyable to drink. I like pineapple over tones and the smoothness of this wine.

I like desert wines I like their sweetness and full body. I enjoy the way they complement the desert you are having if you pick them right and this wine was all that and more.

I had a glass of this wine with some friends the other day. We had a small get together and we shared some wine and some cheeses.
I liked the honey I could smell in this wine.

There is a nice yellow coloring to this wine. It was almost golden. This Tour blanche Blend was sweet but not too sweet. It had a medium body and smells of coconut, butter, and citrus.

I had fruit salad with this wine and it went wonderfully

When my husband brought this wine home I cringed it wasn't my Coutet. But I thought I would give it try anyhow. I'm glad I did. I liked it. This wine has some of the best aromas I smelt some pineapple, vanilla, honey full body and richness. It's good but I still like my Coutet better.

Ok I have a new favorite wine. The coutet has not failed me yet. It has come through in flavor and with great aromas, there is richness and full bodied to this wine that is awesome.
