This was a very exciting wine for the $16 I paid for it.  This is easily confused for a $40+ of Argentina Malbec.  This is the best vintage of this bottling so far to date.  Tight wine, but it opens up with nice pepper, light chocolate, black berries and dirt.

Cocoa Wine

This vintage has beautiful cocoa that is dominating the palate, but even a little too much so. There is some strong plum and rubarb components in there, but the cocoa is still king. Should continue to change - maybe release more fruit.

I really loved this well structure Malbec from Argentina.  This producer continues to impress me with its quality wines at all price points.  The usual characters of cherry, cocoa and earth shine in this wine, but its the vanilla oak that takes main stage for me. This should last a while.

This wine was fine when I had it 2 years ago, but it was peaking even then.  If you have this bottle, time to open it.  Expect cherries and tobacco, but maybe a little bit of alcohol starting to really pop up.

My bottle, I'm pretty sure was corked so its tough to review this bottle. However, if it wasn't corked, it was just plain awful.  No fruit, wet newspaper and dirt.

This vintage has significantly benefited from bottle ageing, which gives me hopes for my 2003 bottles.  The oak has blended into the fruit and carries it with a nice vanilla finish.  The cherry and earth are the best characters and the anise is nice on the finish.

This vintage was not as solid as others I have tried.  The fruit is in somewhat of dumb phase, but should open up eventually.  The tannins are very tight but the fruit is hidden in there somewhere. Oak also is a little too strong - search for the 2003.

I was somewhat surprised by the quality of this wine.  The currant and smoke are interesting but its the cocoa and cherry flavors that dominate the mouth.  There is some chewiness, so food might be a nice way to calm that down.

Decent wine and exceptional for the money.  This is a great wine to pair with a big juicy steak.  This wine needs no food, but it helps calm down some of the oak and a little bit of the jammines. Nice carmel action too.

This fruit forward cabernet from Argentina has wonderful cherry flavors and a nice tobacco finish.  This isn't just a table wine, its an honest wine that wants to impress you, and it does!

Great steak wine.  Especially with chimichurri sauce.  Would havebeen better if the oak was not dominant, but still a fun wine to have with friends and family on a nice Spring Day.

This big Argentinian wine blends 30% cab with the malbec for a winning combination. You start with the aroma of cherries, ripe berry fruit and roasted cocoa.  The vanilla oak notes are followed by ripe, soft tannins so it drinks well now.  Should age and hold a decade if you can wait that long.  I couldn't.  Around $30.

Pair this with a steak and thank the winery for producing a wine that is as good as your steak and costs the same.  The nice dark fruit and plum flavors go over very well on the tongue.  Thick wine, but again with a steak its great.

This wine is a little too acidic for my tastes, and makes your tongue feel like it was cut with a knife made of dirt.  The fruit is there, but its buried under the cheap immitation terroir flavors that seem to have been manipulated.  Still would work well with steak.

This is a wonderful value driven wine from Argentina.  The flavors of light cocoa and plum dominate with a cedar box finish.  Drink with any wild game or boar.

Tasted better on day 2 than day one - and day three was still excellent.  This wine needs to breath 2+ hrs before even thinking about sampling- if you can wait 12+ hrs it will really pay off.  Cocoa dust, vanilla, bing cherries and soft oak all come together for this wine.

This almost delivers the same quality malbec that a lot of other producers bring at $45+ a bottle.  The cocoa and rich cherry and tobacco flavors shine through as a perfect example of Malbec from Argentina.

drank at a party. concetrated fruit, fun wine to drink w/grilled meats.  It's about $7, and not bad, to get several and open at a  party. It's really about 1 1/2 stars.

Good body, powerful wine, and that's exactly what I want in a Malbec.  The tannins were a little tight, but they should be open by now.  Cocoa and cherries cover your mouth and make you want more. Serve with steak.
