Ugh.

I had just poured myself a dinklage of this wine when the following thought occured to me: call me "crazy," but Borneo has always reminded me of the Caribbean isle of Solooronada (shortened from the original Spanish phrase "no tenemos nada de oro, por favor déjenos solos" meaning, "we do not have any gold please leave us alone"). I see in both a foolishness in its people, that not only resisted (in vain) the kind, parental hand of civilization but the proud, fortune-making tradition of slave trade. Hopefully other dirty, poory nations can learn from their mistakes. Ugh.

My last mouton 95 and now I will be unable to drink my 100 bottle cellar.Due to my ambush I have all top harlan, abreu, colgin, and some other amazing 2001 ,2002 & I think a Clarendon astralis, and Intregrity 2003?I was shot and must part with my wines & single malts & even 2 antique louis XII.Well anyone near Vermont, southeat,by Brattleboro if you want the perfect wines for any baby boomer, these are perfect.I didn't want to wait for a better vintage because I was looking for wines I would still enjoy & taste them,I have Harlan estate 2001 3-4 1-1994.Best to call or come on up.If you buy enough or all,I'll throw in a wine cellar.(100 btl enclosed)cost approx $1400 802 365 9795 evenings or during the afternoon 12-2 is good. Enjoy..because I can only rarely enjoy wines or my extinct single malts worth approx 40K.

What a First Growth is all about

I had the Mouton several years ago. It was decanted at least 8 hrs if my memory is correct. The longer it decanted the more the nose showed typical bordeaux profiles of leather, dirt, smoke, and cassis. It is an extremely focused bordeaux, much like a swiss watch in it's precisions of flavors. It often is what separates the first growths from the second and third growths and that is the precision of flavors that are not muddled as other growths are. It is a powerful yet elegant wine that gained weight over the four hours it was consumed. Point wise, I think Parker and Tanzer are more accurate than WS on this wine.  I can see that this wine could actually be a 50 yr wine as Parker suggests. No matter, it was IMO a remarkable and amazing wine that will always stick out in my mind for it's power yet elegance and it's precision of a first growth.

brick red color with a lighter extraction leading to an orange tinge. A nose of cedar, tobacco, chocolate and coffee grounds, this mouton is drinking fabulously right now, and its remaining life is hard to estimate because it isn't as dense as other vintages.

Simple, dry and a smell of cassis and new saddle leather. This Bordeaux has a dark purple color to it. It is medium to full bodied.

WOW!! What a work of art! This wine looks a beautiful as it tastes. It's purple and deep red it complemented by its aromas that remind me of breakfast with toast, coffee, crème de cassis and roasted nuts. But it's the bottle that makes it a fully rounded work of art both inside and out.

This Bordeaux is just alright. I mean it looks good in the glass wine plum purple and ruby red colors. But as for the aromas I'm not sure I like the coffee and wood smoke smells. It is how ever a very lush full bodied and complex blend.

Very intense taste. aromas of espresso, crème de cassis, smoke, new saddle leather, graphite and licorice. This is a very full wine and has a black and purple color to it.

There is a nice freshness to this wine. The color is the dense ruby red and purple. There are aromas of coffee, cedar wood, blackberry liqueur and cassis. This wine is an easy wine to drink.
